We all love clean streets and seeing litter scattered around is not nice. This is why on the first Saturday of every month we have a community litter pick. We meet at 10am on Barnsbury Green where you can pick up rubbish packs and a litter picker tool and then head off to to pick litter wherever you like. Bring the bags back when you have finished (or filled them up) and we then let the council know and they come on Monday to take it all away.
If you would like to suggest another meeting point, please do get in touch: firstname.lastname@example.org
Of course, we would much prefer not to have to do these litter picks so if you do see any rubbish around and you are able to, please pick it up and pop it in your black bin – every little bit helps and we and the whole community appreciate everyones effort.
You can also report litter issues to the council and report missed bins on collection day (recycling or landfill) or you can tweet RBK @ContactKingston – they monitor this Mon – Fri, 9am to 5pm so if you tweet outside those hours, don’t expect a response until then.
Please help us Keep Britain (and Sunray) Tidy.
This is something we are actively working to try an resolve – it is a challenging problem and we will require the support of the whole community and local council to achieve a positive result.
If you see fly tipped items, please do let us know by emailing us at email@example.com – if you can include pictures and the location that would be really helpful as well. To help us highlight the issue to the council, we would really appreciate it if you could report any fly tipping on the Kingston Council website or you can tweet RBK @ContactKingston – they monitor this Mon – Fri, 9am to 5pm so if you tweet outside those hours, don’t expect a response until then.
Currently we are considering a project to make the alleyways more generally usable – potentially for dog walkers, childrens play areas, mini-gardens/raised beds – and to stop (or at least minimise) the amount of fly tipping.
If you have any ideas or suggestions regarding this, please do get in touch.
We have a WhatsApp group ‘Sunray FlyTipping’ – if you would like to be added to this, please email us and let us know your mobile number and we will add you in.
